Creating Exposure
CRSI has the potential to revive communities and create growth. Unfortunately, there are far too many people who are unaware of its existence even though they would benefit substantially from this legislation. Consequently, congressional representatives, staffers, state and local officials, community based organizations and grassroots people will need to be educated about the legislation. An informational mailing will be the first step to creating the necessary exposure as it will provide an overview of the legislation and, more importantly, an overview of the coalition being developed to build support for the legislation. This mailing will allow all individuals and organizations in target cities to network with the coalition. Exposure will be further created by holding briefings at various conferences and events throughout the country. Legislative visits will also be scheduled as they are an opportunity for residents and community organizations to meet with congressional representatives from target districts throughout the country. These visits will be critical in garnering the support of congressional representatives as it will display their constituents’ sincere interest in the legislation. The press will be another means of creating exposure as they will be able to illustrate the overdue need for a federal program of this nature.
